MTN/Gaurdrisk WATCH OUT!!! con artist
Spare yourself the headache and do not consider MTN insurance as they are ***** and con artists.
I had submitted a phone repair claim for a broken LCD. The claim went smoothly and I received the repaired phone. 1 Month later I accidentally lost the device and submitted a claim for a lost device. The claim was declined for reasons my sim card was not in the insured IMEI, now this is where things get *****. I knew this to be incorrect so I did some investigation and it turned out that Idroid MTN uses to fix phones had not only replaced my LCD but they replaced the motherboard which then changed the IMEI number. MTN/Guardrisk did not send me an apology or anything they simply advised me that they will approve my policy and that I needed to pay an excess of R750+ 10% of the phone value. Once again things get *****, MTN has categorized the claim as the 2nd loss, therefore, they have app**** the penalty, however, this is the 1st lost claim but the 2nd occurrence. I had asked 4 agents to direct me to the policy document where it says I am liable to pay X amount for the second occurrence of the claim however they are unable to and have on 4 occasions dropped the line on me with no explanation. If you look at the policy document it very clearly defines what is a repair, total loss, and lost device. How did you automatically categorize this as the second "loss"? The first was a repair second was lost... SO HOW IS THIS THE SECOND "LOSS". It seems to me like MTN and Gaurdisk are trying to get out of paying a claim but I will not leave it as is.
