MTN wrongfully recycled my number

MTN recycled my number that I have been using for over 7 years and is linked to all my personal information and company registration details.

Last year June I moved to South Korea for a new job, before leaving I went to MTN Durban workshop to ask how I can use my number abroad and they told me they could not help me but I need to make sure that my number is active for 360 days. I left my SIM card with my mother and asked her to switch on my phone and call it at least twice a month, which she did more than twice a month. I continued using my number on WhatsApp until Monday the 25th of March.

I was told by a person who tried to call me that my number was answered by a Nigerian guy and I contacted MTN via email and made a report. They told me to send my SIM card number, ID number and full name which I did. But they told me that they couldn’t help me because my number was recycled since I haven’t used it in 90 days, which is not true because it was switched on every month and made phone calls. Now the person is replying to my friends WhatsApp messages he even asked one of my friends for nude pictures.

I have been using this number ever since I had my first cellphone but now I have lost my number and they’re saying that they can’t help me.
