MTN Wrongful Blacklisting from Feb 2025 to Date

05 Feb 2025: Lost one of my two iPhones

06 Feb 2025: Called MTN to blacklist; first consultant had network issues and didn’t call back.

06 Feb 2025 (16h00): Spoke to Amahle Langa – blacklisted wrong phone

06 Feb 2025 (later): Error corrected – correct phone blacklisted

06 Feb 2025 (18:45): Bongisa confirmed wrong phone had been unblacklisted.

07 Feb 2025: Active phone stopped working again; MTN required affidavit for unblacklisting.

11 Feb 2025: Emailed MTN, ICASA, CGSO, and Centurion store – phone still not working.

12 Feb 2025: Emailed MTN Back Office

24 Jun 2025: Follow-up email – no feedback.

15 Jul 2025: Emailed Bontle (MTN Centurion) – phone still not reading MTN SIM.

30 Jul 2025: NCC referred complaint CC2025/07/0531 to MTN.

01 Sep 2025: MTN (Zanele Mazibuko) requested phone number to trace call recordings.

10 Sep 2025: MTN (Zanele) confirmed wrong IMEI blacklisted and later unblacklisted.

03 Oct 2025: MTN (Zanele) claimed unblacklisting confirmed by TransUnion; denied liability.

07 Oct 2025: Emailed Lethabo (NCC) requesting help; phone still with MTN Centurion.

20 Oct 2025: Emailed Fikile (NCC) – raised lack of progress and no response from Lethabo.

22 Oct 2025: Emailed Zanele (MTN) and Madam Moilwa (NCC) – phone still not repaired; consultant Bontle unresponsive.

Late Oct 2025: Learned from Lydia (NCC) case wrongly marked “resolved” on 31 Aug 2025 by Fikile; disputed closure.

Oct 2025 (current):

Phone still non-functional.

Device remains with MTN Centurion.

MTN admitted error but refuses accountability.

NCC handling inconsistent; matter unresolved.
