MTN Worst service in Western Cape

Two weeks ago my wife and myself visited the MTN store in V&A Waterfront. My wife wanted to take out an extra contract. As we came in the door no staff welcomed us all 3 of them busy at desks. The security at the door could not give us a slip as the machine at the door had a sign on it " Out of Order" So we stood and waited quite some time.

We did get helped and everything seemed quite smooth, my wife only had to give her ID card as she already had a contract. She asked the guy... think his name was Junaid, if there is any other documents needed and he said no, just your ID card. We had to get my number ported so he said he cannot give phone till port has gone through. He said it would take 2 business days. So in other words by Tuesday I shoukd have new phone.

Tuesday came and only then did my wife get a sms saying that the application has been received.

She then called and no one picked up at MTN shop she eventually called customer care who then told her that they need her marriage cert as when she first got the contract she was not married.

We then called the MTN shop, spoke to someone who said he would get back to us in a moment. Not sure what his definition of moment is but never caled me back.

My wife and I had just moved to Gordons Bay which is about 60km away from CT. So we spent the rest of the week making turns calling the shop to get it resolved but no one ever picked up the phone.

Eventually more than a week later I drove through to MTN V&A. Got at shop, same story a few staff at desks helping clients, ticket machine at door inoperable. Waited and saw the guy that helped us and never followed up sitting at desk helping another client. A young girl helped me. I explained whole situation to her. She went over and spoke to this guy and he gave her his email address so we coukd email the marriage cert.

She then told me he is aware of problem. I then left thinking that how amazing it is that he is aware of the problem but cannot pick up the phone and call us to resolve it. Also while I was waiting to be helped there was two othet couples saying and complaining about lack of communication and follow through.

I then called my wife and gave her the email address the guy gave and told her to email the cert straight away and ask him to let us know that it has been sent. She did so. It is now 15:00 the next day.... no word from him yet.

So it will take me going into shop now and breaking things maybe to get noticed?

This shop is in a very upmarket mall. But seems to me like MTN is a sinking ship... inoperable equipment, not enough staff to handle clients or answer a phone.....
