MTN Woodlands took money that is not theirs and I am struggling to get my money back.
It is official: MTN has takenmoney that is not theirs.
On Saturday 3 April 2021, I went to MTN Woodlands to pay my account. Amount due: R1,027.96. Given Khanya input everything on the card machine, inserted my card, pressed enter and asked me to input my pin. I input my pin andwaited for the transaction to be approved. When I received my slip, I was gobsmacked - he deducted R9,027.96!!! He claimed it was a mistake. I said fine, reverse. He processed something and then advised me he processed the credit of R8,000 back into my account. Something told me to check. Checked on my banking app - nothing! I called FNB - no credit transaction was put through. So... MTN Woodlands tried to fool me to think they will resolve. It is day 6 without money. My debit orders bounced - who will be paying those fees? And I have no money. I cannot even buy a bread.
This is not acceptable. If an employee messes up, MTN must do everything in their power to correct the mistake - even if it entails processing a payment out of cycle.
