MTN won't cancel my contract even after paying early cancellation fees!

I have been trying to cancel my MTN contract but have had to go through hell just to do so and I still haven't been able to succeed. The contract number in question is ***. I called the retentions department for an early cancellation qoutation and I was asked to pay 294rands after which I would call them to cancel the contract. I did as required and paid 300rands. On the 27th I received a message to confirm the payment into MTN account. My hell began shortly after. The retentions department is the most useless of all MTN departments. They never answer calls. When I succeeded to be answered, the calls are dropped or they are answered but no one talks on the other hand though you can hear there are people in the background. I wonder if this is not MTN strategy to retain customers at all costs even if it means against their will as in my case? Please MTN cancel the contract!
