mtn won't cancel my contract

My contract ended in December. Iv long cancelled my contract along with the number. But the contract is stil active with mtn. And they debited one more time in Jan. I want my money back. And cancel that contract and keep ur number. I want nothing to do with MTN. I don't understand how does cancelling a contract take 3 months
