MTN: Winning the award for the WORST customer service / experience!
It's quite ironic, isn't it? Service providers are the ABSOLUTE worst at their jobs. They have one job. ONE. JOB. And clearly it's too, too much.
I took out a phone contract with MTN in Musgrave Centre DBN (Downstairs store) in June 2017. It was for the iPhone SE. In December, the phone started acting up - switching off and rebooting on its own. Especially when charging and when I was on calls.
So, due to my relocation to JHB in November, I took the phone to MTN Cresta in January. After a month a half of chasing and following up, the feedback sent was that the device needs to be replaced, however, can only be done so at the store where I took out the contract. Don't know how this became my problem now when it's MTN's fault for giving me the faulty device in the first place.
So, I gave MTN Musgrave a call to explain the situation. I spoke to someone named Avi / Avir (God knows) who tells me that the iPhone SE is no longer manufactured in the country and I can take another device for the same price of the phone. (Extremely rude character, don't know who he had to bribe to become a manager) Err.. no thanks, I took out an iPhone contract and ideally should be receiving another iPhone.
Avi / Avir was EXTREMELY rude over the phone and he put the phone down on me. How's that for being a manager of the store? He used quite an aggressive tone as well, clearly he needs some training in the people s****s department. I know of some excellent trainers, if you need assistance.
Latest feedback is that this has been escalated to head office and they need to now authorize the request for a new phone.
MTN, how long is that going to take? And how are you going to reimburse me for not having the device I am paying for?
Come now, MTN, get your **** together.
