MTN why did you not let people know that you are no longer interested in new clients.

I went to a MTN outlet to sign up one of your top end contracts. I was told that there was an item that came with the contract for free. Great, I signed up, went through the rigmarole, was approved, but then was told, as I was about to leave that, oops sorry the free item was only for upgrades and not new clients. As I said it would seem that MTN is simply not interested in any new clients.
