MTN - Very Unhappy Customer
Hi, I took out a 24 month contract with MTN on the 28 March 2017 for R49. 00 per month. A debit order of R998. 98 went off on 03 Jan 2019, I got back from holiday on 04 Jan 2019 and checked my debit orders and noticed this amount on my bank account. I called MTN on 05 Jan 2019 at 14h16 and spoke to Nolutando Qede who informed that an upgrade was taken out in my name in Rivonia on 29 November 2018 at Cellcom Cellular. I informed her that I live in Cape Town and that I was never in Rivonia, I was working that day, I was in the process of purchasing a bakkie at that point in time and I was informed by the dealer on the 29 November 2018 that ABSA Bank Vehicle Finance picked up a problem with my ID COPY I emailed the dealership and that Home Affairs said that the date of issue on my ID is not the same as the one that's on their system. I immediately went into panic mode and realized that my ID could've been cloned and immediately went into Home Affairs the next day on 30 November 2018 and app**** for a new ID. This was clearly Identity theft/*****.
I went into MTN at the Zevenwacht Mall on 05 January 2019 and reported this, the consultant there took down my details and informed me that I should go get an affidavit at the police station and bring it back to her of which I did and she loaded everything onto the system and sent it off. I've sent numerous emails and each time I would get the same reply but just a new reference number, my line and debit order has been stopped at my request.
Up until today I haven't heard from MTN just to inform me how far the matter is and if there's any progress.
I've also informed them that I will make my last payment of R50.00 on 28 March 2019 as this is when my contract ends.
I'm not happy at all with there service and have never been, this contract was just taken out cause of the monthly fee (special they were running)
