MTN Upgrades department retracts quoted price

I've been a loyal MTN client for about 15 years (same number) and had some up and down times with MTN.

On Wednesday, 24 May MTN upgrades department phoned me, telling me about a special deal they have for loyal clients that quality for an upgrade. My contract is done and running for more that 3 years on a 2 year contract now.

I was not planning to upgrade now, but the upgrades department told me on Wednesday that they have a special deal for me. The deal was a Samsung Galaxy S8 for R569 and R549. This was apparently R100 cheaper than normal price. They offered me this contract, keeping in mind that I was not planning to upgrade at that point.

I then asked if I can confirm on Friday, 26 May as I wanted to get my wife's input. They said that, that is fine and they will phone me on Friday, if I want to except the great deal.

On Friday someone else phoned me asking if I am ready to except the deal. I was considering it. Then they told me that will not be giving them at the price quoted after I asked them to confirm the price. I gave then the prices that I was quoted, they told me that special is finish. I then told them that I was not informed the the price can change or that it was limited offer, keeping in mind that that there was only 2 day between the calls. On Wednesday they said that Friday will be fine to confirm if I accept the offer. Then they turn around and told me they will not be able the get it for that price, even if they call the call centre supervisor.

If they have told me that it was a limited offer for that day or so, I would have contacted my wife that same day and ask them to call me back the same day.

I was very disappointed when they told me bluntly that they will not give me the price they quoted me.

I'm thinking of the next step to take, but will be better if MTN can help me resolve this issue. I do not think it was fair changing the price after they quoted me and told me it will be fine to confirm in 2 days time.
