MTN unable to close a cancelled contract.

Since the 19th of September, I have been trying to cancel my contract. Apparently, MTN have a problem completing the cancellation. After multiple emails and phone calls, I received an email on the 7th December that I will be able to buy prepaid within 4-24 hours. I am still not able to buy prepaid. I phoned again today and was told it will be escalated and take another 72hours. I am travelling and am without data on my phone.
