Below is an email that I sent to MTN last month:

I called MTN last year when I got a sms to say that I am eligible for an upgrade. The phone that I wanted was not yet available, so I called customer care again after that to cancel my contract, but was informed that I will only be able to cancel my contract and move over to prepaid in March 2015 - 19 March to be specific. The reference number for that call is ***.

I called customer care, as instructed, to cancel my contract. I was on hold for an hour and a half. I decided to go in to a store, where the cashier was very helpful seeing that the call centre was clearly not working optimally. She put me through to a department where the guy informed me that the department that handles cancellations is down. This means that I will still be billed next month, the debit order will still go off despite me cancelling, and the 250mb and R100 airtime that I paid for will disappear. The reference number for this call is ***.

Since then 2 debit orders have gone off *****ING my money after I received an email confirming my migration - ref no ***.

MTN, you disgust me. I'm finally taking this further.
Best regards,
