MTN the ********

I biught a 2GB MTN data bundles at 9:23 this morning. At 9:30 data was still not reflecting on my balance. I then bought 100 MB loyalty points to access My MTN App, still the 2GB was not showing. I then called at 10:06 to ask what happened to the data. I was told to wait 2-3 hours it will reflect later. After 3 hours I called and i was told that the data was consumed by background Apps. My question is those Apps were always there, and i don't even know how to restrict. It's the first time this is happening. Why would the Apps decide to take the whole 2GB today which never happened? Why would the data not show at the time when i called so that i could restrict the Apps if they are the ones that consume data? MTN is really to **** or what?
