I had a contract with MTN, the cellular network running under the guise of ‘bozza network’. I recently cancelled my contract reverting back to prepaid, however, before doing so I asked if this would affect the data I had recently purchased one of their promotions and was told no. I had close to 30GB of data so I would not have cancelled my contract, but waited until the end of the month instead.
However, to my surprise, MTN took close to 27GB of that data. When I called about this I was told that I had forfeited my data. This clearly contradicts what I was told, also who does the Maths for MTN? If I had forfeited all the data, I would have a zero balance.
This is not the first time MTN has cheated me out of a large amount of data, however as I had asked twice about this, I am furious. Because I feel cheated. That data cost R1000 and I would not have cancelled the contract which costs less had I been informed prior.
When I call these so-called service champions, suddenly no one knows how to contact the people I spoke to previously. What is the point of MTN telling me they record my conversations if I cannot access them when I have a problem like this? Because if I’m lying and misheard then MTN has proof and can simply send me the recording, however, it’s because MTN knows they are in the wrong that they are sending me around with stupid excuses.
I’ve been told my matter is being escalated and from experience, I know that just means they are giving me the runaround. What bothers me the most is that I used to be on Vodacom but did a sim port because someone recommended MTN to me, the worse decision of my life. If you don’t have a problem with your current service provider don’t leave. Especially for a ********** network like MTN. My day was not brightened in any way and it will be a cold day in hell before I ever sign another contract with this bogus network.
