MTN - the absolute worst network provider EVER!! Cannot even sort out sim activation on an Apple Watch
What an experience to say the very least and the Saga continues, I go into the Tygervalley store on 27th December 2024 to activate a "E-Sim" for my Apple Watch, alas nobody there that can assist/help and their Data Specialist isn't available, I call Cape Gate and the Store Manager confirms that they are able to assist, I arrive @14h09pm on 27th, after 3 hours of standing in the store going back and forth with QR codes blah blah nothing - Whamo they take my primary PHYSICAL SIM card off the network completely - 3 hours after walking in with a completely functional phone on the MTN network I walk out high and dry, my SIM disconnected from the network and I am dead in the water - fast forward a few days of flatline until Thursday the 2nd Jan 2025 and they finally get my number back up and running but this time on an E-SIM, this doesn't solve the watch issue and I still get the same error that my MTN account is not eligible to enable cellular on my Apple watch please contact MTN. Well the phone is at least working so 1 victory - much back and forth via WhatsApp with the MTN Cape Gate store to no avail and I visit Tygervalley and once more - their Data Specialist is unavailable this time not for the next 3 days ,cry me a river, anyway go to the other MTN store in the centre and get helped, this Gentleman proceeds to tell me that everything that has been done on the account thus far is incorrect and needs to be reversed and/or cancelled, mission begins again, relatively quickly we manage to reverse the SIM back to a physical sim and remove all the E-SIM's added (there were now a total of 3 E-SIMS!!!! 3 I tell you!!!) and we are literally back to day 1, like ground hog day - back in time to the the 27th December when I first entered the store - this gentleman is trying as he may to get this functioning since 3rd January 2025 to no avail, we have even supp**** all the watch details to MTN back end and internal IT departments to perhaps manually activate it on the back end - still NOTHING it is now the 7th January 2025 and they still have not managed to get this BASIC functionality running so that I can use the Apple Watch as intended. This process is a 3 min self service process with Vodacom I might add and bottom line is that MTN simply just don't care - 25 years as a customer on contract its pathetic, clearly customer loyalty means absolutely nothing!!! - NOTE: No names mentioned of any of the Store Staff as this is NOT their FAULT - they have tried everything - the problem is MTN themselves the Company that simply don't care, they make it impossible for their staff to actually assist customers due to lack of access to systems, no escalation Matrix that is contactable other than the staff sending emails into the abyss and waiting and zero ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!
