**I'd give 0 if I could
MTN SOUTH AFRICA
My father has a 2 year 20gb day/20gb night time data package with MTN. We have started to notice the data runs out extremely quickly. Even so, if we are not using our devices, no background apps or updates the data is being used. I went onto the MTN Facebook group and noticed others complaining about a similar situation. My father and I sat and worked out how much data each of us were using and it didn't add up to the amount we have used - which shows our data was being taken for nothing.
My father has a similar contract through Vodacom. Through lockdown, he has been operating with his phone as a hot-spot for his station. He works the entire day using his Vodacom Internet and within a month he has only used 9gb. Whereas with MTN, where we are using less and not as active with the usage, we can use the 20gb within two weeks somehow? We've tested it too - we've purposefully not used our devices for a day or so, checked the Internet and seen its still gone down anyways.
Along with this, the 20gb night time in my Father's contract is from 12am - 7am. My fiancé uses this data but has noticed it only kicks in around 12:05am and now ends at 5am instead. MTN did issue an update to this policy online (but not to its customers who are paying for the times?) is this even allowed? Can they just change the contract like that but still have you pay technically for the two hours you are not using?
Please can something be done about looking into this - as they are making us pay such an expensive rate for data and then depleted it even without our use.
