MTN Subscription that was not subscribed to, but put on phone without permission from account holder

Having had a contract phone with MTN and having renewed it, I find the following very disturbing: Gameloft Club place ads on the MTN platform and unbeknown to me I found that I was subscribed to this thing for 47 days at R3/ day.

I tried to cancel this subscription and was not successful. I find this nothing short of potential *****.

Having spoken with Mr Melvin Pillay, a team manager at MTN Helpline, he informed me that this is not an MTN issue. I disagree with this as I have not agreed for advertisers on their platform to contact me and this is in contravention of the data protection act and needs serious consumer protection.
