MTN store staff lying about phone warranty and forcing me to book phone in as normal repair
So I book a brand new Huawei Y7 in because its not switching on. The phone does have a crack on the screen. 1st issue. MTN tells me I have a 6 month warranty but Huawei's website notes the phone as having a 24 month warranty. So MTN **** about the warranty. Now they want to charge me to fix the screen as well as the battery that just stopped working. MTN says they wont fix the battery under warranty. So the phone stops charging. Doesnt want to switch on. But its not warranty related? The guy at MTN clearwater mall says oh sorry sir the scratches on the back and the screen crack has now void my warranty and therefor he will book it in as a normal repair. The reason is that if MTN has to give me a new phone then what do they do with the broken one as they need to make their money back. So a warranty at MTN is only valid if they can make their money back. I in store disagree with his statement. But hey I bought it there so I should book it in there for repairs. This happened on 6th June. Today 1 Jul I get the quote for repairs. It only took how many weeks to assess the phone? I have to pay R1400 for a screen and a battery. When asking how the screen is the cause for the battery to fail the lady says because the screen and the battery are in the phone. Im a little worried if this is the level of understanding coming from your repairs department. So not only do I not get a warranty but I also cannot have the battery fixed and not the screen. I sent it in cause it stopped charging and switching on. The screen crack is a hairline crack and has not affected the phones ability to be a phone not one bit and is not the reason for sending it in. It took you a month to quote me. You lie about warranties and then make customers sign documents to make them waive their warranties. So now Ill ring Huawei and while Im at it www.thenct.org.za.
MTN has gone out of their way to displease me. So far so as to lie about the happenings and the events as per the email I received. Still no response regarding that. Thank you for taking the time to respond. See as you cannot stick to the manufacturers warranty I will see you at the tribunal. Start getting an electronic engineers report together to substantiate your claim that a hairline crack caused a faulty battery. Consumer Tribunal will more than likely want that info to make a judgement.
Do not contact me further unless it is to tell me that you have replaced my battery under warranty.
I am done dealing with you and now will only deal with you through the tribunal.
Good Day.
