MTN Store Staff- absolutelty hopless with no kowledge of their own product
I have had an absolutely horrific experience with MTN today. I have called 6 MTN stores in the Durban area. Pavilion, Hyper by the Sea, Musgrave, City View, The Atrium and Westwood Mall. All I want is more information regarding their Month to Month Business Data Packages. I already have 2 MTN contracts and do not want another, but I do need a data package whilst I am working from home.
The person from Pavilion was the most unprofessional and arrogant. He had no product knowledge whatsoever and kept giving me incorrect information even though I was reading directly from the MTN Yello Trader. I was enquiring about the Month to month package for R579, the package consists of 110GB of Anytime data and 110GB of broadband data. I needed to know what the broadband data is and I was told that this data can only be used after 5pm. When I queried why, because that makes no sense, I was told that it's because companies have shifts and work after hours. I then asked what routers can be used and he was insistent that I needed to buy a router for nearly R2400 in order to sign up, even though the booklet clearly states I can use my own router. I then asked what I needed to sign up and he basically gave me all the requirements for taking out a contract even though this is a month to month deal, yet when I called the Hyper by the Sea brand yesterday I was only asked to carry the router and my ID, but they had no stock of sims and were only expecting stock next week.
I then called Hyper by the Sea again today to check if I could use my own sim, but there was no answer. Same with Musgrave Centre, The Atrium, City View and Westwood. I kept trying the stores and eventually got hold of someone at Westwood. I enquired about the package and I was told that the booklet I was looking at was outdated, even though I got it from the Hyper by the Sea branch this past weekend. He went on to state that the package for R379 now only included 60GB of broadband data monthly and 60GB of work express data once off. I hung up as it was not feasible. I then downloaded the latest Yello Trader off the MTN site, only to find that the exact package I was enquiring about is still in fact available, and at the same price.
It is absolutely pathetic and quite honestly embarrassing that MTN store staff have absolutely no product knowledge of the items available. And these are the people who are supposed to be advising customers. I prefer MTN as my network provider because of the connection and signal strength but I cannot deal with the terrible customer service or complete lack thereof. Now I need to find another store, which is at my inconvenience, to go to and get this deal, and I need to pray that their staff isn't as hopeless as the people I have had to deal with today.
