I went to MTN as my phone had been ****** and I was trying to figure out how to get a sim swap or even change of ownership for my contract as my MTN number is under my guardians name.

The manager of Eastgate MTN was extremely helpful and rightfully guided me to the "correct" people who would be of assistance.

I was "helped" by a lady who was extremely rude and made the whole process unbearable. She explained to me that I cannot do a change of ownership from my guardian to me as I apparently had a contract with MTN a long time ago which was not settled.

I ASKED IF I CAN SETTLE IT, SHE SAID NO, THEN SAID SHE DOESN'T KNOW, THEN SAID CALL LEGAL.

I totally forgot about having an account at MTN on my own, and it's never reflected on my credit record which further explains why it wouldn't be of occurrence to me.

I then asked her for advice and she was rude and abrasive and told me there's nothing she can do. I explained that the Account Holder (my guardian) is extremely ill and elderly and it is important that I do a sim swap if I cannot do a change of ownership.

I do realize that the sim swap ideally needs the account holder, what do I do if my guardian is too old to go to MTN? Surely they must be a way provided I have the supporting documents such as ID + proof of residence.

What further infuriates me is that as this lady at MTN showed me the screen saying my change of ownership is declined due to previous contract, she then proceeded to take a photo of the screenshot with her cellphone.

How is that even acceptable? Why are my personal details being captured on an MTN employee's cellphone

I don't mind the change of ownership not being approved based on MTN's findings. BUT I DO MIND not being given alternative means to perform a sim swap as my guardian is ill. The contract is a cash pay contract which I pay.

I ALSO MIND THAT I RECEIVED BAD SERVICE AND MY INFORMATION WAS CAPTURED ON SCREENSHOT FROM THE MTN EMPLOYEE WHO WAS HELPING ME.
