MTN STOPROBBING US WE WORK SO HARD,I REGRET TAKING A CONTRACT WITH MTN
MTN IS ROBBING US I never requested an open line, nor was I informed about it. No in question *** no is *** Ms N Zenzile I am writing this message with great anger and disappointment. In June 2025, I took out two contracts for two Samsung A35 cellphones at the Somerset West branch. The agreed contract amount was R729.00 per month for 36 months. However, I found it very strange that the debit order mandate reflected an amount of R1,198. When I queried this with the sales assistant, she informed me that if MTN does not receive payment, they are allowed to double debit the account. In terms of the contracts, one phone was supposed to include 145 minutes, and the other was a data-only package. However, in January I noticed that I was billed R1,198.00 and R1,966.04, totalling approximately R3,400 for the month. When I went to the MTN branch, I was informed that there was an open line on my son’s phone, which I never requested or authorised. I immediately asked for this line to be cancelled. This month, the same issue occurred again. I was billed R1,198.00 and R1,623.48, totalling R2,821.48. This is completely unacceptable. Today I visited the N1 City branch, and even the consultant who assisted me was surprised by these double debits, especially since I did not approve them. I have also tried contacting the MTN customer care line, but I have not been able to get through for assistance. This situation has left me without money last month and has caused significant financial strain. I kindly request that this matter be urgently investigated and resolved. Failing which, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter to the Ombudsman. I look forward to your urgent response.
