MTN still no data and airtime restoration
My wife's MTN data has been wiped out 2 weeks ago (20 July 2018) when MTN had the data and airtime nationwide "technical" wipeout error. 9GB of data gone.....9GB GONE!!!!!
When we called the MTN operations centre (135) on 20 July 2018, we were told that there was a problem and that the problem would be rectified. On 26 July 2018 we called again, only to be told that we must call MTN customer call centre on Sunday 29 July 2018 and the operator promised that she will get her data and airtime back asap (MTN reference no: ********** 42777).
Well, its 31 July 2018 at 20h00, and there is NO data or airtime that has been restored. Nothing!
I transferred her airtime on 24 July 2018. Three days later the R200 airtime was GONE!!!!
The MTN service champion tried to blame the usual "background apps chowing data and airtime" excuse, but he was quickly defeated on that story.
The same happened to myself, on my BIRTHDAY (23 September 2017). After the birthday celebrations I went for a late afternoon nap. When I woke at 5pm on the same afternoon, there was 2GB GONE in 2 hours. I called the MTN customer care and they spun me the story of background apps chowing my data.
So far, for July 2018, I spent close to R500 airtime and 3GB data on my wife just to "keep her connected" on MTN. Sadly, on 31 July 2018 there is NO DATA or AIRTIME. She hardly makes calls or go on the internet.
Business Insider also reported that MTN promised to give R100 airtime and 100MB to those affected customers. My wife never received this, even when we enquired at the MTN call centre.
MTN, you guys are a disappointing bunch. You ***** data and airtime and never give it back. As the Business Insider rightly quoted: "MTN fills your car up with petrol, but then *****s the petrol back during the night when you sleeping".
My wife's number is ********** . Please recharge her to her balance prior to the "technical" data and airtime wipeout of 20 July 2018.
If not, my whole household and extended family are moving to Telkom.
I remember last year when something similar happened with VODACOM. They fixed the problem within 24 hours and doubled the data lost of each affected customer. My work colleague was extremely grateful that she was a Vodacom customer when she got double her 5GB data back.
Unfortunately, with MTN, the struggle continues........
