Hi. MTN is causing me a lot of stress, depression and anxiety, my fault was trusting them by opening cellphone contract with them. I had paid for it very well with no problems, towards the end of it I was told that I had upgraded it and took another phone, which I didn't do but an advisor at Rewadsco did ***** using my details and that was January 2023,contacted the ***** team and it seemed like they sorted that out but my credit file was destroyed and I asked a lady at the MTN store in Gateway by CNA to close the contract for me and she said she did but she didn't and am finding that out in October when trying to open an account with other stores, they said I have a bad paying record. So I went back to MTN as they were the only people I had an account with before, they told me I was owing them R1381.81 as the contact wasn't closed, meanwhile the Sim that was for that contract was suspended in February and I've been using a different sim, I had to pay that because I wanted to clear my name and I paid R1382 on 31/10/2023 at the Umhlanga coastlands branch, called MTN to be sent proof of payment and closing of contract till today I haven't received it, sent email to retentions and they told me my contract was closed as of 27/07/2023. What angers me the most now is that they don't want to clear my credit file, someone tried reactivating that contract and am still being billed for a contract that was long closed. A case was open on the 29/12/2023 and was told it should be sorted within 24 hours, I gave them an extension of 7 days since it was a festive season and it's still not sorted, when I call they say it should be 72 and when I tell them it's been more than that 72 since it was open they have no straight answer, the last reference number was ***. If there was an option to rate them a zero I would have.
