Today I went to go upgrade my mtn contract and the lady said that I can’t upgrade because I need to phone pre legal at mtn because my account wasn’t paid up. I was furious and went home
When I got home I phoned mtn regarding the problem. 1st time i phoned I got through to a consultant but then the line dropped. The second time I phoned I was on the phone with a very helpful gentleman that said that Bothing is showing on his side but he is going to transfer me to the collections department and this is where it got intresting.
I normally pay R800 a month for my 2 contracts I have with them and the lady said that I still own 500 or something because I didn’t pay in full... I said that I pay 800 every month and I have proof. She said that my bill was 1500 last month??? Like what??? From my normal 800 to 1500?? Surely that is a mistake. I asked her how can it be and she said that I have went over my limit call time and data....
Okay so I told her that I do t use those sims in my phone and it’s in my drawer. The last time I’ve used it was last year. And she said that that’s the case...
So mtn.. explain how the hell I can use data without use it the sim card ??
I’ve had it with MTN! ****** I tell ya!!
Good day Daniel,
Thank you for your post.
We apologize for the inconveniences that you have experienced. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
According to our records your account has been in arrears since August 2016 when a debit order of R1,307.00 returned unpaid. This you corrected on 13 January 2017 by paying the arrears up. The invoice of January 2017 however was not settled and this balance carried over from there. You only started making payment of R800 on your account in the month of March 2017 and the balance after that payment was R794. You can see this breakdown on your statements when you go on your MTN app.
We then conclude on the matter that the balance on your account is correct and you are liable for it.
Should you require any further assistance with your account, please write back to us and we will attend to the matter accordingly
