MTN staff calls me stupid/slow after trying to unblacklist my phone they blacklisted. I am with Vodacom.
A very rude staff member called me slow/stupid in Randridge Mall branch when I walked in to unblacklist my phone MTN ***** blacklisted for a device I bought from a retailer and have the receipts to prove it. I am also not a MTN customer and with Vodacom, who confirmed my phone was blacklisted by MTN *****.
Ofcourse this woman denied everything, saying impossible, need a MTN number to blacklist and IMEI. Also denied that headoffice did a bulk blacklist (which another branched showed me an internal email where they state they did blacklist 14 000 phones and here are the steps to follow when someone queries it). Had to be pushed over and over to even try lookup anything on the system, stating the system is down yet it works for all the other customers and after being pushed hard suddenly the system worked but she was useless at operating the system and came up with nothing.
She also insisted they cannot phone anyone not even the call center. I had to call 135 which when called the voice prompts require a MTN phone number before you can speak to anyone.
She then tried to upsell me on a MTN prepaid sim which I declined. She claimed to also be unable to log a ticket or send an email of any kind without a MTN phone number.
A lot more happened and I had to storm out after 30+ minutes and go to another branch who had no issues picking up the phone and calling MTN ***** or someone else to help sort it out. She logged a ticket, copied my proof of purchase and ID. Nothing the woman at Randridge Mall could not have done herself.
If MTN reads this please escalate the unblacklist of my device. I sent an email to *** and got this reference number: 90e169ec-7027-46f0-9e82-044c34b80045
That will contain the details you need.
