MTN South Africa's Bad Service
My wife's phone was ****** the afternoon of Friday the 11th of October 2024, because this a contract, we then phoned MTN's call center the same evening requesting them to block the number and to blacklist the phone which they said it was successfully done. The following day we went to MTN at Maponya Mall so that we can get a new sim card and do a Swim Swap, upon arrival we were told to pay R150 in order for these to be done and we paid. We then asked them to unblock to also unblock the number so that it can be functional now. They told us that this was done, and we should wait for about an hour or 2 for the number to be active again. After an hour or so we inserted the new sim card in a new phone which we just bought from another cellphone retailer but still the sim card had no network which meant the number was still inactive. This went on for the whole Saturday, us checking if the sim card has network but still nothing. We did the same process again on Sunday without success, we then phoned the call center, and they confirmed that the swim swap was done, and a request made to unblock the number, but they are not sure why this hasn't been activated yet. My wife then decided to take a half day's leave at work so that she can return to MTN Maponya Mall, upon arrival she was told the same story as the call center alluded to us. To this day, Thursday the 17th of October 2024 we are still waiting for the cellphone number to be unblock. We have references to proof our interaction with the Call Center and the Maponya outlet. It is really frustrating because she uses this number also for business purposes so subsequently, we are losing money, time and energy in this regard.
