MTN South Africa Relentless SPAM Abysmal Customer Service

I'm so sick of MTN South Africa and their spam marketing. There is no way to opt out of the spam marketing, and one receives AT LEAST 1 SMS per day, every single day.

I asked them several times to stop spamming me (which they said they would do). However, they never did.

I contacted them on their official FB Page and their support team on Facebook and at first they gave me a *Number# code that would first turn off the post recharge spam. I did the code and that did not work. They said that there is no way to disable the daily promotions that they send out. Literally my entire SMS folder is devoted to spam from MTN South Africa.

I kept trying to follow up with their team about progress and they just started ignoring me (after I sent them 5 separate messages on 5 separate days, and they opened and read all of them). It is now months later and I have not heard back from them and the spam continues. I even went into an official store and they said they could not help me to stop the spam.

I've had enough. MTN's business model is, "Don't care about our customers privacy and peace and quiet, don't care about direct customer service, just spam and market as much as you can! Who cares if we lose some customers because we have poor service, we will make up for that with all our marketing efforts!"

I'm switching to Vodacom. Vodacom is the better option. They do not spam you every day with SMSes and calls about their latest deals.
