MTN - Slogan shoudl be "everywhere, we fail "
December 2017, out of the blue MTN debits R700 from my account, I quickly reverse this amount with my bank and contact MTN customer care and they tell me I have a contract with them, just for clarity I advise them that I don't have an account with them, I get told that I must go to a police station and open a case, which I ignored as this is too much for a working person to do, 2nd month R1400 is debited and I start to get concerned, I repeat the process, 3rd month I get a call from Norton Attorneys that MTN has handed me over to them, this means that the account is visble to credit breua as well,
Feeling defeated I repeat my story to the lawyers and it seems I will have to go and open the case, I do as told and forward all necessary documents over to the attorneys and MTN simultaneously, two months pass and I contact the lawyers as no one has bothered to get back to me, and they tell me that they are waiting on MTN's investigation, 3rd month passes and I get a call from the lawyers informing me that I owe R23 000 and if I am currently employed, "sigh" so are we back here??? I ask the agent, I plead with her to check internal notes and she does and she finds them and all that relates to my story but there is no breakthrough,
It's been 6 months and MTN still hasn't answered my questions nor cleared my name, 1. Which branch was used to open the account? 2. What copy of ID, proof of residents and bank statements did they receive from the person? 3. where is the surveillance? because every contract is opened at a store.
The level of incompetence and negligence shown by this service provider is beyond me, I wouldn't refer anyone to take any of your services after this debacle, No one seems to know anything except how to debit from people's bank accounts.
