MTN slavery contract non closure
A contract was entered into with MTN in February 2017 for 2 devices a mobile phone and a ****le. In May 2019 I realised that the 2 year period of the contract had come and gone yet MTN were still deducting the contract amount via debit order. I was informed that only by telephoning the call centre could this contract be terminated. I then spent hundreds of rands on airtime attempting to get through to a consultant in order to change the cellphone number from contract to pre-paid as I could no longer afford the contract. I had had the ****le ****** from me so many times during the first year of the contract and had that number blocked and no replaced the device. That by the time the contract expired I had forgotten that this device was part of the contract. Now because, in all the numerous emails which I sent requesting for this contract to be terminated , I did not remember to put the number of the ****le device MTN kept on charging me for this service which has not been used for more than a year. This has resulted in an outstanding amount of R1381.98 which I have paid in desperation to have this account closed and my Credit rating restored because MTN had blacklisted me. Proof of payment has now been sent 3 times to the MTN consultant that I was eventually able to contact through using a mobile that was on MTN service provider, but no response has been received, to either confirm receipt of the emails or to confirm the account has been closed. Please could you assist me to obtain my freedom from this service provider and clear my name with the Credit Bureau. Thanking you for you kind assistance. Kind regards Vivien Haylock ***
