MTN Sim Swap - Why so long? Feedback Poor.

So yesterday my phone was ******.

So I go into an MTN store and do a SIM Swap at 14:10. Its now 16:15 the next day and my pnone is still not active.

Anyway my dissatisfaction is that I spoke to the helpline 4 times and this morning they tell me everything is OK Just switch your phone off for 5 minutes and then it will be active. Not true.

Went to MTN shop again this afternoon and the HelpLine person said still "pending" and will be active during the course of the day. So I ask the person what does the pending status change to? He said "Completed." That is after the fact when the phone is active. Leaves you feeling a bit in the lurch.

Cant there be the same answer given by all the Agents. They all seem to give you different answers to the same question and from a customers point of view its seems like you are being given the run around.

Is this an automated process or someone needs to check a box?

Good Day,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kindly note that a sim swap takes anything between 2 to 24 hours to go through the Network. Should the sim swap status remain pending for more than 24 hours then a request is logged with the support team to manually process it directly on the Network. Please let us know by emailing *** if your sim swap is still pending more than 24 hours later.

Rest assured that it is not our intention to displease you and we look forward to continue improving on our service delivery to you.

Kind Regards

Hi Itumeleng,

Its now 53 hours and MTN has not contacted me on this issue apaqrt from an automated meaningless email. I have called your network line ********** 212 and theycannot help me.

Please can some one call me regarding this issue as I am tired of explaining this simple issue but getting inadequate responses from ALL at MTN.

It like MTN does not have a solution and cannot say where the Problem is apart from saying " please wait " " I will reset and try again" "get shunted to another dept.
