MTN Sim swap taking forever to activate

I recently did a sim swap on my lost sim card and have received a message saying Sim swap is in progress, and l should allow 2-24hrs to the process to complete.

The message was received on Wednesday the 12th of April around 5pm. Since then nothing has happened and I'm wondering what could be the problem.
