MTN SIM Swap process turned out to be even more frustrating SECOND time around!

WOW....I actually tried to do a SIM Swap in April 2019 and that experience was unpleasant to say the least, so much so that I wrote a review about it on this same platform! Due to the fact that I was determined to be brand loyal, I continued to stay on the very same network.

Today, as luck would have it, I lost my phone again - which means that I had to do another SIM swap urgently and this experience was beyond atrocious. Again, I am presented with the same dilemma as previously, my cell phone number is the ONLY number I have for work and my private affairs.

However, the current "security questions" that MTN has implemented are beyond frustrating. You answer these "amazing" questions, only to get told that the "SYSTEM" indicates that you have failed the security check. What buffoonery is this, when the questions were answered to the best of my abilities and yet despite my frustration and explanations to the call centre agent about my predicament, all I got is a rehe****d "we're sorry we cannot assist you, you will will have to go do an affidavit and take that, together with a certified copy of your ID, to an MTN store for them to assist".

At 19h00 in the evening, I am now expected to be running around facilitating getting affidavits (to confirm that the number I have been using since 2001/2002 is mine) and certifying copies of my identity documents so that I can be assisted (hopefully) the following day at an MTN store, only to have to wait 2 - 24hrs until the SIM Swap is activated - and during this entire time no one can contact me and I cannot contact anyone.

Please do advise as to why my life has to now be on hold ****erally) because of whatever grand ideas that MTN has regarding securing the processes and procedures for SIM swaps. So much for brand loyalty!!
