MTN sim-port troubles URGENT!

Pathetic service from MTN. On Sunday, 24/03/2019 ; I went to the MTN store based at the Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga KZN with the intention of porting my number to MTN. At the store, I purchased a new MTN sim card which was subsequently RICA'd. The sales representative thereafter registered the port and showed me confirmation on the MTN system that the port was accepted and that the new sim would be activated by the following day. My existing sim was deactivated that same day.

The MTN sim has yet to come online despite more than 48 hours having elapsed. Despite phoning MTN support, the various representatives just keep passing the buck and refuse to assist.

I am now left without my cellular number nor access to my various apps nor the ability to make and receive calls.

With this experience in mind, please think twice before deciding to join the MTN network.

After phoning the Porting Division this morning, they have informed me that the port has come through but I must now visit the nearest store to RICA the number. Firstly this makes zero sense, due to the following reasons: 1) I was told in order to port my number, I would have to purchase a new MTN sim card and have it RICA’d - This was done 2) The sales representative then started the porting process and had told me I would have to wait 24 hours for my new Sim card to be activated with the number that was ported. The sales representative showed me confirmation of this. No one told me that after the port is complete that I would have to now go back to the store to RICA the new number ( This is according to one of the assistants from the porting division ) Secondly, if the SIM card was ‘NOT RICA’d’ , as your porting division said it was . Why on earth would your store sell me a SIM card as well as port my existing number to MTN without having RICA’d the MTN SIM card?Considering your sales respresentitive followed all the correct steps, as displayed on the insert that comes in the MTN SIM card starter pack. Evidently, this seems to be a fault on your side and not mine. It’s been 72 hours, if not more , and I don’t have my cellular number nor do I have the ability to access apps, nor can I make and receive calls. With now having encountered this experience, for the SECOND day in a row , I would advise those who are thinking of switching to the MTN network to do extensive research before joining them.
