MTN - Sim Card Deactivated
Two days ago I returned from the US only to discover that my MTN prepaid sim card has been deactivated after 3 months of inactivity. Not only was I not advised that this would happen, but I didn't even receive a notice that this would happen. When I spoke to a MTN representative this morning they told me to get an affidavit and certified ID copy from the Police Department before I could apply to get my number back, but only if it had not been given to someone else.. This seems ridiculous as I have had this number for 13 years and all of my notifications for my bank accounts and personal accounts are sent to this number. Should I not have the first option to get my own number back?
Thank you for your post.
We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.
We apologize for the delayed response.
We have tried to contact you, no availability.
Please be advised if the number is not used in +- 90 days for calls the cell number will be reverted back to the network and allocated to a different user to be used, this is stipulated in the starter pack.
Please contact the prepaid department first and assist them with the prepaid cell number to confirm if the cell number is still available before you do the affidavit and ID copy.
Kind Regards,
Alice van der Merwe
