MTN Shocking Service with anything I tried to do.

Ive been with MTN for 10 years. Recently I tried to add a tablet deal to my account. I went to the shop but they had an issue on their system and couldn't add the new R129 contract. I called the helpdesk who said the shop needs to contact the credit controller to resolve which I told the shop and was promised to get feedback by the end of day. This didn't happen. I the ordered on the MTN online store and got an email confirmation. Never heard from them again. A week later my phone upgrade was due so I app****. After a week with phonecalls made and promises to get back to me they still hadn't processed the upgrade and could not tell me what was going on. I complained to MTN management via email and even lodged an official complaint on the website with no follow up or solution. The service is shocking, everything I've tried to get done has been a waste of time. I will cancel my contracts with MTN and stay away. I have researched and will rather go prepaid with a better provider and it won't cost more, actually calls are cheaper and I can buy a phone interest free from Standard Bank. I am tired of big companies thinking they can treat customers badly.

Hello dwillemse,

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused and for the delayed response to your post. It was never our intention to have dissatisfied you in any way.

We do currently have a new process for upgrades. When a customer needs to renew their existing contract, it is basically done as a new contract, whereby you are vetted to check for affordabilty. The application is then matched against our set criteria.

We've escalated the complaint directly to our Vetting Department to check what the outcome of both the add SIM application and the upgrade was.

We will touch base with you as soon as we get feedback. Kindly note that we are currently faced with industrial action (picketing) by employees that are union members with the CWU (Communication Workers Union) and there will be a delay in feedback.

Regards
Tim
