MTN Service Provider - ***** or Inefficiency?

Hello,

My husband, Jan Abbott signed his third contract with MTN at the Shelly Centre, Kwa-Zulu Natal on the 13th December 2016.

He chose ths date as the billing month essentially runs from the 12th to the 12th of each month so he would received the bulk of the data bundle he signed up for. The contract he signed stated 20GB daytime, 40GB night time for R499,00 including VAT.

During the course of the month or 29 days to be exact between the 13 December to the 11th January we noticedhe noticed he had not been given the full quota by far of the data bundle requested. An invoice was supp**** on the 11th January 2016 which showed a charge of R857.52 (a random charge on the day of signing up. The second charge was also a random amount not related to the R499.00 he agreed to which amounted to: R437.71 after disounts and connection charges. He queried the first charge and was told this is a "prorata fee" which makes no sense as contract had just begun. i.e. not data used before the date of the 13 December. Billing is supposed to be in arrears of each month?

He had to pay the bill as it runs on a debit order.

The new billing period began 12th January and once again he checked what the data amount was and again the data supp**** was not as stated in the contract.

Each time he called through to log a fault he was given different answers, though none aggreeing on the amount of data he was owed wrt to what he signed for. I.e. He was told he has signed for a 20GBday/20GBnight when it clearly states on both the invoice and contract 20GBday/40GBnight. Neither the 808 helpline or the service provider store in Shelly Centre can sort the matter out. ts taken about 5 calls, with various reference numbers and three visits back and forth to the shop.

Today, the matter still has not be resloved.

He feels as if he's been overcharged for the product he signed for and been denied what he signed up for.

He (and myself) have been MTN contract holders for over 15 years with MTN as they have the best signal in our area. Sadly, MTN has no service levels at all. And it seems their data capturing systems are out dated.

You would think by now to retain customers, MTN and the like would develop a better system to track their clients and be able to resolve issue on the spot!?

I expect a response from MTN on this matter.

Yours sincerely

Natalie Abbott
