MTN ****S - Phishing
MTN ****med me with a phishing SMS. They sent me an SMS saying I have been awarded a 500MB data bundle for FREE. I used it to update my GPS. Next my phone was locked automatically for any calls, regardless of my available packaged minutes of 2 hours. I had to contact the 808 call centre, which is on strike and this forced me to go to their dreadful MTN centres. After waiting for 30min in a queue and another 30min spent with the agent (Rea), I was told to pay R1000 to get my phone unlocked for phone calls. I have to pay another R700 for the data use next month via debit order. What they did not say is, if you exceed the 500MB it does not stop, but continues downloading. I don't have a data bundle contract with MTN, yet they just carried on allowing the download and charged my account, but my phone was locked for phone calls despite having available airtime.<br> Please be warned. MTN is ******** people by sending phishing SMS's claiming \free"data bundle to browse the internet. They want you to use it and when you exceed it"
