MTN ****

On the 21st April 2021 I received a call from a supposed MTN branch claiming someone was trying to do a sim swop on my number, without realising the guy asked to to give him the code sent to my phone to cancel the sim swop. Bearing in mind that he asked for me by my name, Kim and my MTN number is on my husbands name. a second code came through which he asked for again and I gave it to him. I did not know these were OTPs giving him access to my MTN app, which I DID NOT have downloaded on my phone. My contract is a MTN made for me contract and is R260 per month, but on the app it allows you to increase the limit to R18000. This person who created a profile name on my MTN app of DG, increased the limit and moved data and all sorts out of my my number to various numbers. I contacted the ***** department that evening and could not get through to anyone. The following morning I phoned again, and logged a complaint and got cut off so we went to MTN Boksburg and the lady helped us to decrease the limits over the phone and logged another complaint as to who signed for such a ridiculous credit limit of R18000??? We have to date not received any feedback. The lady at Boksburg MTN advised us that if we did not receive any feedback within 48 hours, we should go to head office at 14Th Avenue. That afternoon I received more smss of data sharing and other bundles. I then downloaded the app onto my phone and stopped it, but this person was still on the app at the same time and kept re activating as I was de activating. We then went to 14th Avenue and the security would not let as in, as he said no one was there, they are working from home??? All of this seemed to have stopped when I downloaded the app as I was able to see what was happening and stop it as soon as they tried. We phoned MTN again 2 or 3 times since and no one has come back to us. I went on the app last night and I now have a bill of R25568.05, went to MTN again this morning and theres nothing they can do???? I want to know how MTN allows an app to be installed on a phone that DOES NOT belong to that number and even if you log out the session keeps running. MTN are supposed to be a service provider PROTECTING its customers from this sort of thing, and surely as the banks do, if there is suspicious behaviour on you account they contact you. Surely increasing my limit to R18000 should have raised a red flag on there side. Every time I log a complaint with MTN they say the will com back to me within 2-24 hours and the receive an sms to say the query has been closed. Who on this earth can afford a R25000 phone bill??? And now my husband will get blacklisted if we do not pay this, because of MTNs poor poor service and management to improve the security of the app. All of these transactions were sent to non rica'd numbers and MTN say they cannot be reversed.
