MTN SA WORST SERVICE PROVIDER

MTN ABUSING THE SYSTEM

Last year 26 December 2020 I travelled out of the county for holiday. While I was there, I got an SMS on my MTN line which I had on roaming, notifying me of an order app**** on my MTN contract. Immediately I contacted MTN to stop processing the order for it was ********** and I wasn’t aware nor in the country to make such application. I made calls, emails and through their Facebook page, their ***** email and even through the call center to try have the processing stopped. This is not the 1st time I have a ********** contract processed on my name at MTN. It has happened to me in the past and ended paying for three cell phones for three months waiting for MTN to resolve the issue. I wasn’t prepared to go through that again, I really don’t have some few thousands of Rands laying around to pay for MTN’s mistakes. Despite all the effort I made to stop the transaction, MTN went ahead to process and issue ********** application with a new contract. On my return to south Africa end of January, I got a statement and invoice of about R4000.00 towards the new ********** contract. I visited the Rosebank branch on the 6th of February 2021 to have this sorted out with all the documents they had asked me send as proof that I was outside the country and I didn’t make any new applications. I also blocked the number of the new contract in shop to stop further abuse of the phone number in my name. I have been following up with MTN to try and have this sorted ASAP, but nothing has been resolved. Instead, MTN unblocked the line so that it could accumulate an extra R6000.00 and they want me to pay R10k plus for their stupidity. MTN is now using the Credit Act system to threaten me with “BLACK LISTING”. I also want to cancel my contract with them but “their famous words unfortunately we cannot help or escalate this issue.” There seem to be a number of such cases that MTN has and dealing with at the moment, and a lot more in the past. So why is MTN not updating their security systems and improve the protocol of selling contracts, I am most sure that this plays in their favor finically. The more ********** cases they have, the more they can claim from insurance. Someone is definitely cooking sales rates through insurance payback. I might be wrong about that, but if they were bleeding money, they would have put security measures into place to stop it by now. I think it is time the Hawks starts looking into this. MTN can check with these reference numbers if they wish to: *** ***
