MTN SA .....POOR communication AND Non Service
have been an MTN subscriber for over 20 years. In 2012 I relocated to my cottage on the Wild Coast For 5 years we have received 3G coverage and although the signal was not always strong, we could always manage to make a call, never experienced any dropped calls, and although internet was slow, we could always log on.
Late last year, I signed a new two year data contract of 80GB per month at a cost of R499p.m.
In late Nov early Dec, MTN had Ericsson refit new equipment on their towers.
This is when all my problems began. Dropped calls 90% of the time Sometimes you dial and get through to the other party and can hear them, but they cannot hear you. WiFi has been non existent since Nov. MTN have sent three tech teams to my home to check my equipment, and every time they report that the problem is with the MTN tower, not my installation. I have copies of WhatsApp communication with three members of MTN staff, who work in coverage. This has been going on since December. I have sent in complaints, emails and spoken to MTN staff on many, many occasions..... To no avail.
In order to phone or email, we have to get in the car in rural Transkei and drive 3km away to find signal.
I run a guesthouse, a Blade Smith forge and my partner has a clothing label and you can imagine the havoc caused by not having communication.
I have paid R833.00p.m. since this 'No Service' began in Nov. To date I have paid R4998.00 for No Service. When I signed the two year contracts with MTN, I did so in good faith. I have paid and they have defaulted and not delivered the promised service.
I contacted coverage and put in a claim for a refund of my money. The answer I received back is that MTN will not pay more than 3 months. So now I will move to the public domain and the courts if necessary to get what is owed to me.
I feel sad that, many MTN customers have to resort to this kind of social media reporting, simply because their communication systems with their customers does not work. Remember this MTN MANAGEMENT..... A CUSTOMER OF 20 YEARS SURELY MUST BE MORE VALUABLE TO YOU THAN A NEW ONE......REMINDS ME OF THE CLICHE..... A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH!
