MTN ROBBING OLD PEOPLE
MTN takes advantage of elderly people - wasting their time and *****ing their money. In about August 2017 they phoned my mom(61 years old), telling her that she is due for an upgrade. She did not want to upgrade at that stage, and told them so. She was on a R299 per month contract, which they then changed to R 169 per month, with an extra 100 anytime minutes and some extra sms's and data, because the current device (LG G3) was paid up. In January this year, she decided to upgrade and phoned MTN Direct. She wanted to upgrade to a LG G5, at which the consultant checked for availability. The consultant assured my mom, 61 years old, that the LG G5 was available on the R 299 per month contract, and in stock. The upgrade was done telephonicaly. Later that same day, she received an email stating the details of the upgrade. When she read through the mail, she realised that they did the upgrade on and LG G5 mini, and NOT the LG G5 she asked for. On realising this, she immediately phoned back to cancel the upgrade (it was within the first 24 hours). Just after the cancellation, the courier company phoned to inform her that the LG G5 mini is due for delivery, upon which my mom phoned MTN direct IMMEDIATELY to tell them that the courier company is on its way with the delivery. The consultant said they will phone the courier company to return the device. In other words, my mom NEVER received a new device AND the upgrade WAS NOT CANCELLED. She is still using her LG G3 and from the end of January 2018, she was billed with R 299 per month (the upgrade amount - and the extra minutes, sms's and data was cancelled), without a new device!! She phoned numerous times and told them this, but nobody made any attempt to rectify this matter. In other words, since January 2018, MTN stole R 130 per month from my mom!!!!
