Mtn ripping me off

I have been overcharged on my account, I want to know the reason why ? last month an amount of R1300 was deducted from my account I queried and I was told that it was from some usage billing that I didn’t know off , I asked how do I delete the option, I was told to use *141*5# and change usage limit to 0 I did that and I got a pop up message saying that my usage limit is R0 . to my surprise this morning and amount of R2578 was deducted and when I queried the transaction I was told it’s the usage limit which I have changed to R0. I have been buying airtime and change it to data whole time and buying airtime to make calls I have proof if needed. I will not pay for something that I have not used plus I do not remember when I had free airtime or data if you need my bank statement I will show you I would never use R2000 for airtime or data never.

Thank you for your post.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with our service.

Kindly be advised that the system reflect that the usage limit has been set up on the account to R0.00 on the 14-3-2016 by MTN . The system do reflect that the usage limit has been changed on the device to different usage limit balance. Our MTN system can proof this changes done by the user of the device. Note if you change the usage limit from R0.00 to a certain amount the system will allow you to use the minutes and data free with the package with no charge, so if you place the usage limit for R1500.00 then the system will allow you to use this balance for any extra calls or data usage and this extra usage will be billed to the account.

The system only reflect that the usage limit has been set up to R0.00 on the 24-4-2016 @23:28 so the data billing is before you have changed the usage limit to R0.00 .

Once the usage limit is on R0.00 you can then purched data and airtime to be added on the sim card

Please keep the usage limit R0.00 on the sim card when you are using the short code *141*5#.

The charges for data on the April and May invoices are valid and correct.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe
