MTN Retentions Department ****

MTN as an organisation are professional ************.

I had two contracts that I requested different data packages for that are more cost efficient. The operator took it upon herself to upgrade these lines (without additional handsets). This was in August 2017.

I have now been trying for over a year to get them to cancel the so called upgrades, so that I can in fact upgrade these lines. Then, I decided to cancel the one line and they gave me a reference number in the month of June already (Ref No 268 234 162).

Till today this has not been cancelled. And here is the fun part:

When ever you call their call centre its the same plug and play process. You have to go through voice mail jail to make it through to retentions.

You explain the story to retentions, and after being put on hold for 15 or 20 minutes, the phone cuts out. Then you have to repeat the process again.

I am convinced this is a con on their part to deter people from following through on their cancellations because they simply make it too onerous to do so.

Another con on their part is they tell you that you cannot cancel because you are still under contract.

However the CPA states that you are able to cancel contracts with 22 days notice if the contracts are under your name as a private person.

I have a total of 9 lines with MTN and I want to cancel every single one of them.

I have been a client of MTN since 1995 and their service levels are beyond appalling.

Now I logged a complaint with Nonzuzo Sesolo who is a Complaints Specialist, to defer this matter to the General Manager of this department, Thegan Naidoo to see if I can get this nightmare resolved.

I am not holding my breath.

Also I have lodged a complaint with the CPA and will get my attorney involved in this nightmare.

I would advise anybody who is considering doing business with MTN to take your money and run.
