MTN Retentions Department giving me Hell on Earth

Five days ago I requested early termination of my contract. MTN Retentions department wrote to me telling me that I needed to pay 750rands in order to cancel the contract. I paid the money and advised them accordingly. They wrote to me telling me the number has been migrated to prepaid. However to date my number is still classified as contract. I tried to do sim swap and couldn't even succeed because it is regarded as contract. I called 073 who told me the number is a contract number. 808 tell me that it is now prepaid. So which is which. This incompetence is unacceptable and not expected from a network like MTN. Can someone please help sort this mess!

I am now considering cancelling my two remaining contracts with MTN due to this pathetic incompetence. Why is it difficult to properly migrate a contract number to prepaid? Right now my number is neither contract nor prepaid so what is it? Prepaid department say its not their number and have not received it. Contract department say its not their department and all this is happening on one network!
