MTN retentions department - Failure to assist with contract migration

Hi, I have read so many threads on hello peter regarding the failure of the MTN retentions department to assist their customers to either cancel or migrate their contracts to prepaid. My contract expired on the 18th of October 17' and I was informed by the MTN customer care service that I should phone the 808 number on or after the date of expiry to migrate to prepaid. I have phoned the 808 number since last Tuesday numerous times and was put on hold for an operator every time for over half an hour at a time. I subsequently went in to a MTN store to get assistance there with no avail. The store apparently may not assist with cancellations.

This seems to be a malicious act by MTN to forcibly keep their customers who's contractors have expired on a month to month basis. If I would cancel my debit order with my bank, the mtn legal department would not hesitate to harass me or blacklist affecting my credit score.

I have been with MTN for over 14 years, since I had my first cellphone. If this is how they treat their loyal customers I do not want to be part of such a company.

Can someone please assist me to follow through with my reasonable request ?
