Mtn Retentions

My contracts came to an end. I called them to cancel and move to pay as you go. The retentions agent offered me a different package - zero rated package. He explained that this package would allow me to upgrade whenever as I do not want to upgrade at the moment. Also, I would need to do my own top ups and there would be no monthly subscription fee. Today I received a text to say I am on a month to month contract. I called in to mtn and the agent said my contracts are still active.
