MTN responsibility for ********** YellowDot TV deductions.

Other comments and reviews relating to YellowDot TV ****s refer.

I also received emails over the last month or more “subscribing” me automatically for R2.02 per day unless I actively declined the subscription by sms. My experience - ignore, the more info you give and the more interaction you have with them the more ****s you get. And, of course, this method of securing subscriptions, by requiring active declination, is *******.

Predictably, I suppose, my account appears with the deduction for what the MTN call centre person tells me is a “contract subscription”. It appears, as far as MTN is concerned, that this is my problem and not theirs. I struggle with this attitude, as I’m sure the National Consumer Commission also will. Fundamentally, MTN have charged me money, deducted this cash from me via monthly bank order, and given it to YellowDot TV without any authorisation from me. I have asked that they provide me with proof of my formal authorisation of the subscription charge but they appear disinclined to provide this (they don’t have it, of course). I consider this to be *****, on the part of MTN (forget YellowDot TV - whose ********** activities I correctly chose to ignore - pity MTN is not quite so astute, at their clients’ expense).

The YellowDot TV web page, I note, declares MTN as one of their “partners” - which, considering the noise made over this **** so far, you would expect MTN to be fully aware of and doing something about - instead of continuing to act as a trustworthy collector of these **********ly acquired subscription proceeds. The sms in fact implies the service as being from MTN with reference to their web page. MTN, a major public company with millions of customers whose interests they are obligated to look after, should know better! Perhaps that attitude is worth an investigation! It must certainly cost them clients!

I had a similar issue some time ago with my bank deducting unauthorized payments for services never subscribed or received. My bank, however, has significantly more morals than MTN however, by taking responsibility for their incorrect deductions, re-funding the amounts and ensuring no recurrence.

I never activated the content service, in fact I never even got any service, so I’m sure you didn’t activate it. That’s not the point! You paid my money to an unauthorized service provider. So stick your **** where it belongs and fix it!! Perhaps a lawsuit for ***** will wake you up!
