MTN Repairs Centre Durban

On the 10th of October i handed my Sony M5 into the repair centre in Newton Park. On that day i dealt with Jean Petersen who assured me the turn-around time would be 1.5 weeks as my phone would go straight to Jhb to be fixed.

1,5 Week later i called the toll free number given to me on my receipt and they said that my phone was in Durban and has not been sent off to Jhb yet. I then called the Newton Park branch in Port Elizabeth and nobody there was able to assist me.

During that time i dealt with the toll free centre several time, but no luck.

On the 21st i called the toll free centre and the lady that i dealt with told me that Jhb has fixed my phone, but she could not advise when my phone would be sent back and that i should call the following week.

I then called on the 25th of October and i was told that Jhb had sent my phone down to PE on the 24th, and this would take 3 days, so I should receive it on the 26th.

On the 27th I tried calling the Newton Park branch, but with no luck I was unable to get through. This had forced me to go in to the branch (which was dead quiet so it does not explain why nobody answered the phone). I then dealt with a different lady who told me my phone was in Durban. When i asked how that was possible she could not give me an answer. Once again i was told that i would receive my phone on Monday (31 October).

Monday I phone the Newton Park Repairs Centre, and as predicted, my phone was not there and was still in Durban. I was then told that the first batch of phones had arrived and my phone would probably be delivered after 11am that morning. I then called back in the afternoon and I was told that my phone had not arrived and i should wait for them to call me. (if i did that, who else whould do the follow up?)

I called the toll free number on 1 November (yesterday), at first i spoke to Lerato who said my phone has been sent to Port.... and then the call went dead. I then phoned back and dealt with a different person. This person told me that my phone was STILL in Durban and could not tell me why. She said she had sent an email to the Repair centre in Durban and i should call back the next morning.

This morning (02 Nov) I phoned the toll free centre and i was told that they could not see any email that was sent to Durban. Once again nobody had an answer for me. I then requested to speak to the manager but the "manager" was not in and would only start work at 9:30am. So i asked the lady what time would i expect a call from the manager? ... As expected she could not tell me when and if i would ever receive this call as requested.

To sum all of this up (eventually), my phone has been in for almost 4 weeks, after i was told it should take 1,5 weeks. I was given so many dates as to when i should receive my phone, but that did not happen. The service was PATHETIC and the staff have not been helpful at all. It seems that we as the customers need to do their work for them. I have to beg them to follow up as they cannot think for themselves that the process has run it's course and something needs to be done. I will NEVER ever recommend anyone to take a contract through MTN regardless of the deals they offer. The deals MTN offers is not worth the ridiculous service you have to go through when a phone has a manufacturer fault!!!!!

Unhappy customer!

Thank you for the response. Yes i have received my phone back, however, they have given it back to me with a problem that was never there before. The headphone connection is now faulty!! And i REFUSE to go through this procedure again and wait another 3 weeks for a fault caused on mtn's behalf. The phone is suppose to be checked and given back to the clients with a 100% working condition. I have never ever been so disgusted in MTN before.
