MTN refusing to cancel contract after paying cancelation fee

I cancelled my contract in January paid the cancelation fee in store got a reference number for the cancelation and now in May got a debit order deducted from my account. Called in snd was told that the consultant who was working on the account did not finalise the cancelation therefore i have to pay again the cancelation fee.
